How Moy Works Refitted a Brownell In-Yard Boat Trailer To Ensure Easier Hydraulic Repairs In The Future
A shipyard owner had a problem with his Brownell in-yard trailer. After years of use, the trailer’s hydraulic lines were leaking. The challenge was that in order to protect those lines, they were run through the inside of the trailer’s frame. This was a great way to protect those hydraulic components from the elements, but when they finally went, the only way to access them for repairs was to cut holes in the steel frame. Worse, simply finding where the hydraulic lines were actually leaking meant cutting holes in multiple locations of the frame just to locate the problem. This customer asked Chris Moy for a in-yard trailer repair solution, which Moy Works was able to deliver.

This is how the trailer arrived. Notice areas of the frame where welders had to cut holes.
A Full Hydraulic Refit

Chris’ solution was to rebuild the trailer’s hydraulic system on top of the trailer’s frame. Brand-new lines, hoses and other components extend the trailer’s useful life for many years, if not decades. If any of those components fail at any point, the repair will be simple and quick.

Fully-Protected
With the hydraulic lines running above the frame, one might worry that they are exposed to damage when the trailer is being used to move boats. That is why the refit by Moy Works now encloses them under steel plating.

The steel boxes can be unscrewed and removed in minutes, offering quick access to the components underneath.
